WordPress Specialist Contractor

About Five Sigma Studio

Five Sigma Studio is a Boston-based design firm focused on integrating brand strategy, user experience, design, and content for meaningful digital experiences. We are seeking a WordPress Specialist Contractor to join our collaborative team, working closely with our creative director and clients to implement visually compelling and user-friendly WordPress websites for a diverse range of projects.

Role Overview

The WordPress Specialist Contractor will be responsible for implementing new site builds and redesigns across multiple client projects. Work can be completed flexibly, but you should be available for communication and collaboration during core business hours (10am–5pm EST) via Asana or Slack, with occasional Google Meet calls as needed.

For individual contractors and freelancers, those not seeking moonlighting arrangements and who can dedicate consistent attention to our projects are preferred. Additionally, agencies offering a team-based approach are welcome to pitch their services for this role.

Compensation

The compensation for this part-time, remote contract role is $9,200 per month for an expected engagement of 25–30 hours per week. This is a guaranteed contract for the next 4 months, with the potential to continue after that based on performance and project needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement new WordPress site builds and redesigns based on provided design direction and templates.
  • Work with popular themes and page builders, including Salient, Divi, Avada, and Elementor, to create responsive, visually consistent websites.
  • Collaborate with the creative director to ensure all design standards, brand guidelines, and UX principles are followed.
  • Perform production-level design tasks such as cropping photos and expanding on existing assets as needed.
  • Conduct thorough testing across devices and browsers to ensure optimal user experience and functionality.
  • Participate in project management and team communication using Asana, Slack, and Google Meet.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks, while also engaging in collaborative reviews and feedback sessions with the creative director and clients.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience building and redesigning WordPress websites using Salient, Divi, Avada, and Elementor themes/page builders.
  • Strong design sensibility and attention to detail, with the ability to implement and extend established visual and UX standards.
  • Proficient in production-level design asset handling (e.g., cropping photos, basic image editing).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, balancing self-driven tasks with feedback and direction from the creative director.
  • Reliable availability for communication during 10am–5pm EST.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Portfolio showcasing WordPress sites built with the specified themes/page builders.
  • Experience working in a design-led, cross-disciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a responsive, proactive work style.

What This Role Does Not Require

  • Custom coding (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP) beyond occasional light CSS tweaks.
  • Integration of advanced third-party tools (CRM, e-commerce, analytics, etc.).
  • Content creation, SEO optimization, or ongoing site maintenance/support.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume and a portfolio to niki@fivesigma.co.

Include relevant WordPress projects, highlighting your experience with Salient, Divi, Avada, or Elementor, along 3-5 recent WordPress projects that demonstrate your proficiency with the specified themes/page builders, along with brief descriptions of your role in each project.

Candidates will be evaluated on their ability to translate design direction into high-quality WordPress implementations and their fit with our collaborative, design-driven culture.
